'Apocalypta' is based on feelings of rage, betrayal, and wanting to find a sense of revenge. A significant paradox when expressing our emotions as Black women is that we are vilified, demonized, and ignored despite how truthful they are to us. Apocalypta represents the build-up of these emotions and finding that sense of revenge by ending the world. This painting is made to recognize those emotions and understand the outburst we may want to let loose from suppressing them internally and being misunderstood.
